“There’s a global revolution under way”. That is what Forbes states in their report “Analytical Enablement: How leaders harness distributed business intelligence to drive breakthrough results“. The revolution Forbes mentions is self-service analytics.
Decades ago a forward-thinking manager, Peter Drucker, said “if you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it”. At that time, we were far from imagining the amount of data we would have at our disposal, ready to be transformed into insights and than to action. Sales Analytics have become a gold pot of opportunities that is fueling forward-thinking sales managers and their high-performing teams.
Machine learning is not a new term, but in the last few years it has been brought to the spotlight due to technological advances and bets made by major players like Google and Facebook.
Gartner leaving Traditional BI tools out from the 2016 Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics gave the discussion a new breath. Traditional BI tools still have the biggest market share but their revenues are decreasing. On other hand, Modern BI segment is increasing its revenue in 64%. Time to understand what tears them apart and who will win the fight.
