By 2018, US will face a shortage of at least 140,000 data scientists. The numbers are from a McKinsey report about the frustration companies face when trying to hire these professionals. The demand keeps increasing as more and more companies look to leverage the value of data, so data scientist shortage won’t go away. This may not be a solution, but will sure help. (more…)
Splunk is the most popular software to analyse machine-generated data. The IT community is quite fan of Splunk, but business users see it as a complex technical platform. In other words: not for them.
As a result, businesses are ignoring a great deal of opportunities. The type of insights companies can get out of Splunk could improve sales and marketing results. (more…)
Last month we launched a “Naughty or Nice” quiz as a special Christmas campaign. We challenged participants to search for guilty behaviour on how they had treated business data during 2016.
The goal was to understand how people are embracing data. Are they making data-driven decisions? Are people at ease with using data in a biased way to get support for their projects?
Let’s find out! (more…)
We live in exciting times for BI. There has been at least a decade since we saw so much disruptiveness on this industry: AI agents that give business advices, voice interfaces, automatic generated visualizations, self-preparation data… The way we interact with data is changing for good and we just can’t wait to see what 2017 will bring us. With the help of our partners ImproveCX and TechStorm we predicted the Business Intelligence trends for the next year. (more…)
2016 went by crazily fast. They say it’s a good sign when we are not aware of time passing by. I couldn’t agree more. We had a great year at Wizdee: almost 300 users, Fortune 500 customers and great partnerships.

Human population is growing year after year, raising the bar on Santa and his team. The work load has increased till the point that not even magic can make possible to deliver all Christmas gifts in one night. North Pole Inc. had a problem and his CEO looked for the Business Intelligence of the Future to solve it.

We are back to that time of the year when your children and nephews write their letter to Santa listing the gifts they wish to receive. Turns out companies also have wish lists. But let’s skip the most obvious requests like clients, revenue and a better coffee machine. With the help of BARC we managed to put our hands on companies’ wish list for business intelligence.
There are a few good reasons why working for a mature company first can make you a better startup founder. When I talked with Paulo Gomes (full interview), cofounder of Wizdee, we discussed three key points in the context of B2B companies. And Paulo knows what he’s talking about. He worked in the space for many years in academia before founding Wizdee – which has quickly become one of the four global players in natural language search (see Gartner report), alongside behemoths like Google and Microsoft. Wow!
Now that we have caught our breath after the crazy week we had at Lisbon Web Summit, it’s time to look back, share our journey at the event and reveal what will be the next big thing for BI and Analytics.
